Binnie was a little Detective. Binnie wore a tiny coat and a big smile. Binnie worked in a bright Laboratory with shiny tables and soft lights.
One morning, Binnie blinked. “Hmm. Something is missing.”
On the shelf, a glass jar was empty.
The jar should hold the Rainbow Powder. It made the lab tools glow pretty colors.
Pig waddled in. Pig was round and cheerful. Pig liked counting things.
“Sniff sniff,” Pig said. “I smell… nothing. The powder is gone!”
Fox slid in quietly. Fox was quick and clever, with sharp eyes.
“I saw a sparkle trail,” Fox whispered. “Follow me.”
Binnie nodded. “We will find it. Step by step.”
Binnie used a small magnifier. “Look! Tiny shiny crumbs.”
They followed the crumbs across the Laboratory floor.
Past the bubbling beakers.
Past the sleeping robots.
Past a big fridge that hummed, “Hmmm.”
Then—clink!
A crystal bell rang.
The Crystal Guardian appeared near a tall cabinet. The Guardian looked like clear glass and soft light.
“I guard crystals,” the Guardian said kindly. “I also guard secrets.”
Binnie held up the empty jar. “Rainbow Powder is missing. Do you know where it went?”
The Crystal Guardian pointed. “I heard a swish-swish. A cape. A laugh. Someone went into the shadow corner.”
Pig gulped. “Shadow corner?”
Binnie patted Pig. “It’s okay. We go together.”
Fox grinned. “Team feet!”
In the shadow corner sat a big box marked DO NOT MIX.
From behind it came a tiny, cranky voice.
The Sorceress stepped out. She wore dark sleeves and smelled like old pepper.
“I took your Rainbow Powder,” she said. “I needed it for my spell.”
Binnie stood tall, even though Binnie’s knees felt wiggly.
“Spells can be okay,” Binnie said, “but taking is not okay. Let’s talk.”
Fox tilted a head. “What spell?”
The Sorceress sighed. “My wand is dull. No sparkle. I want it bright again.”
Pig’s eyes lit up. “We can fix! We can fix!”
Binnie thought hard. Detective brain on.
“Maybe the wand needs a safe mix,” Binnie said. “Not a sneaky steal.”
The Crystal Guardian floated closer. “I can lend a crystal drop. One drop only.”
Binnie measured carefully. “One spoon of Rainbow Powder. One crystal drop. Stir slow.”
Fox stirred. Pig counted. “One… two… three… slow!”
The wand began to glow. Soft. Warm. Not too wild.
The Sorceress blinked. “Oh. Pretty.”
Binnie held out the jar. “Please put the powder back. Then you may have a small pouch for your wand, with permission.”
The Sorceress looked down. “I am… sorry.” She poured the powder back. No spills.
The Laboratory lights seemed happier.
The Crystal Guardian chimed. “Fair trade. Good teamwork.”
Pig giggled. “We did it! We did it!”
Fox wagged a tail. “Detective Binnie wins!”
As a thank-you, the Crystal Guardian opened a tiny drawer.
Inside was a new treasure: a little Detective Badge made of crystal.
It sparkled rainbow dots.
Binnie pinned it on. “Case solved,” Binnie said softly.
And in the Laboratory, everyone felt safe, bright, and together.
