Dariel and the Lost Morning Song

Kids stories

Dariel Gaguancela, a gentle musician by the Amazon, helps a Princess find her lost song. Together they face an Ancient Guardian and discover a tiny music-box treasure.
Dariel and the Lost Morning Song

Dariel Gaguancela was a kind Musician. He lived by the Amazon river. The trees were tall. The air was warm. Birds sang: “Tweet-tweet!”

Dariel had a little drum and a shiny flute. He liked soft sounds. He was gentle and brave, even when he felt a bit shy.

One morning, the Princess came in a small canoe. Her crown was made of bright seeds. She looked worried.
“Hello, Dariel,” she said.
“Hello, Princess,” Dariel said.

“My song is lost,” the Princess whispered. “I cannot sing my morning song. Can you help me?”

Dariel nodded. “Yes. We will find it.”

They walked into the green Amazon. Leaves went swish-swish. A blue butterfly danced around them.

“Listen,” Dariel said. He tapped his drum: boom… boom…
The Princess smiled a little. “That feels warm.”

Soon they reached an old stone gate covered in vines. In front of it stood the Ancient Guardian. It was very, very tall. Its eyes looked like quiet river stones.

“No one may pass,” the Guardian rumbled.

The Princess hid behind Dariel.
Dariel’s hands shook, just a tiny bit. But he took a deep breath.
He lifted his flute.

He played a calm note: whooo…
Then a happy note: tee-tee!
Then a brave note: taaa!

The Guardian tilted its head.
“You speak in music,” it said.

Dariel nodded. “We are looking for the Princess’s lost song. It belongs to her.”

The Guardian was silent. The forest was quiet too, like it was listening.

Then the Guardian said, “Long ago, I kept sounds safe. But I got lonely. I held this song too tight.”

The Princess stepped forward. “I will share,” she said softly. “We can sing together.”

Dariel tapped his drum again, gentle and steady: boom… boom…
The Princess hummed: mmm-mmm…

A small glow appeared between them, like a firefly made of sound. It floated to the Princess’s mouth.

“Oh!” the Princess laughed. “My song!”
She sang a bright morning tune. The Amazon seemed to wake up. Parrots called. Monkeys chirped. Even the river sounded like it was clapping.

The Ancient Guardian bowed. “Thank you,” it said. “Now I have a new job. I will guard the gate, and also guard joy.”

Behind the gate, vines opened like curtains. Inside was a hidden nest of treasures: smooth shells, bright beads, and a tiny music box carved from wood.

“For you,” the Guardian said.

Dariel opened the music box. It played a sweet melody.
The Princess gasped. “A gift for your brave music!”

Dariel smiled wide. “And a gift for our teamwork.”

They went back to the river. The Princess sang. Dariel played.
And in the Amazon, the morning sounded happy again.
