Eden is a young mermaid. She lives in a bright Coral Reef full of color. She has long green hair that flows in the water. She loves to sing and play with her friends. One morning Eden wakes and feels sad. She looks beside her and the shiny pink seashell is gone. The seashell is her favorite toy. Eden feels tears in her eyes.
A friendly fish genie appears with golden fins. The genie is playful and kind. The genie waves and says, “I can help you find your seashell!” Eden smiles and takes the genie’s fin. They swim together under coral arches. They peek behind purple anemones. They peek beneath waving seaweed. They look near bright starfish. They look near sleeping clams. Eden calls, “Seashell, where are you?”
Suddenly a Monster crab climbs out of a little cave. The crab is big and has long red claws. Eden feels afraid and floats back. The genie glows a warm light around Eden. The genie sings a gentle tune. The crab stops and listens. The crab blinks and sets down its claws. The genie says, “Thank you, Mr. Crab. We just want to find the seashell.” The crab nods and points a claw toward a dark rock.
Eden and the genie swim toward the rock. They find a small cave under it. Inside the cave they see a tiny shell bed. Eden gasps. There gleams the shiny pink seashell. Eden picks it up and hugs it tight. She says, “Thank you, Genie! Thank you, Mr. Crab!” The crab waves a claw and scuttles back into the reef. The genie giggles and splashes water.
They swim back through the reef. Rainbow fish dart all around. A wise turtle waves with his flipper. A school of jellyfish glow softly. Eden and the genie wave to each friend. Eden holds the seashell near her heart. Eden says, “I feel brave because I asked for help.” The genie whispers, “We make a great team.”
At sunset the reef glows blue and gold. Eden and the genie drift in gentle currents. They blow soft bubbles. They spin in circles and laugh. Eden hides behind a coral tower. The genie counts and then tickles her tail fin. They giggle together. Eden sings a happy song. The genie sings back. They sing:
“Splash splash in the bright blue sea. Joy and friends belong to me. Shell is found and heart is light. Happy dreams will fill good night.”
Eden yawns and feels sleepy. She tucks the shiny seashell under her pillow of seaweed. The genie whispers a lullaby. The reef grows quiet in the starlight. Eden closes her eyes. She dreams of new adventures in the coral world. She is smiling. The end.
