Mattoe the Cowboy wakes up in the jungle bright and early.
He wears his big hat and pulls on his boots.
He looks around and smiles.
The tall green trees sway.
Birds sing a happy song.
Mattoe pets his horse friend, Horse.
Horse neighs and nuzzles Mattoe.
They laugh together.
Then Mattoe hears a small cry.
It is Monkey on a low branch.
Monkey waves.
He points to the ground.
Mattoe and Horse look down.
They see Teddy Bear sitting on a log.
Teddy Bear looks sad.
He lost his cup.
The cup is his favorite.
It glows in the dark.
Mattoe decides to help Teddy Bear.
Mattoe says, “We will find your cup!”
Horse nods.
Monkey cheers.
They start to search.
They walk under ferns.
They hop over roots.
They follow small footprints.
They see a shiny red leaf.
“Is this it?” asks Monkey.
“No,” says Teddy Bear.
They walk on.
They hear a soft jingle.
“Listen!” says Horse.
They stop.
They listen.
They hear the jingle again.
The jingle is fun.
Mattoe leads the way.
They come to a blue rock.
The cup is behind the rock.
Teddy Bear runs and hugs the cup.
He is happy.
Monkey claps.
Horse dances.
Mattoe smiles.
He tips his hat.
Teddy Bear says, “Thank you, Mattoe!”
Mattoe says, “You are welcome.”
They have a small snack.
They share banana and apples.
They drink water.
They laugh together.
The sun moves in the sky.
It is time to rest.
Mattoe, Horse, Monkey, and Teddy Bear sit by a big tree.
They sing a soft song.
They look at the birds.
They look at the light.
They smile.
They are friends.
The jungle is calm.
Mattoe closes his eyes.
He feels warm.
He feels safe.
He whispers, “Good night.”
Horse curls by his side.
Monkey hugs a branch.
Teddy Bear hugs his cup.
Stars glow above.
The moon watches over them.
All is well.
In the morning, Mattoe the Cowboy and his friends wake up together.
They stretch and smile at the rising sun.
Tomorrow will bring more happy jungle fun.
Jungle fun.
Jungle fun.
Jungle fun.
