In the bright Kingdom, little Luis the Dinosaur lived by a blue castle. Luis had soft green scales, a round tummy, and a brave little heart. He loved helping. He also liked saying, “Roar-roar! I can try!”
His best friend was Teddy Bear. Teddy Bear was small, brown, and very cuddly. He wore a yellow scarf. Teddy was kind, but he worried about almost everything.
One morning, the Kingdom looked strange.
The red flags were pale. The purple flowers were gray. Even the rainbow over the castle had lost its colors.
“Oh no,” said Teddy Bear. “Where did all the pretty colors go?”
Luis looked up. On the tallest castle tower stood Sun Knight. His shiny gold helmet was very bright. His long yellow cape blew in the wind.
“I took the colors!” called Sun Knight. “The Kingdom was too noisy and busy. I wanted everything to be calm.”
“But colors make us happy,” said Luis.
Sun Knight crossed his arms. “Then bring me three happy things. If they make me smile, I will give the colors back.”
Teddy’s paws shook. “Three things is a lot of things.”
Luis gave Teddy a gentle hug. “We can do it together.”
First, they went to the apple orchard. The apples were gray, but the little birds still sang. Luis tapped his tail: tap, tap, tap. Teddy Bear clapped: clap, clap, clap. Soon the birds sang a funny song.
“Tweet-tweet! Tap-tap! Wiggle your feet!”
Luis and Teddy wiggled. They laughed and laughed. A tiny silver bell fell from a tree.
“One happy thing!” said Teddy. “A laughing bell!”
Next, they walked to the sleepy pond. A little duckling was stuck in tall reeds.
“Peep! Peep!” cried the duckling.
Luis used his long tail to move the reeds away. Teddy held the duckling close in his soft paws. The duckling splashed into the pond and made a big, silly circle.
Plop! Splash! Plop!
A smooth blue pebble appeared at the water’s edge.
“Two happy things!” said Luis. “A brave blue pebble!”
Last, they climbed the hill near the castle. The wind was whooshing hard.
“Whoosh! Whoosh!”
Teddy’s yellow scarf flew over his eyes. “I cannot see!” he said.
Luis carefully held the scarf. Then he saw something behind a bush: a little red kite, tangled and sad.
Luis pulled one string. Teddy pulled another string. Tug, tug, tug!
The kite came free. It flew high in the sky.
“Hello, wind!” called Teddy.
The kite danced. It looped around the sun. Then it dropped a golden feather into Luis’s hands.
“Three happy things!” cheered Teddy. “A dancing feather!”
They hurried back to Sun Knight. Luis showed the silver bell. Teddy showed the blue pebble. Together, they held up the golden feather.
Sun Knight looked at them. He did not smile.
Then the bell gave a tiny ring. Ting!
The pebble made a tiny splash. Plip!
The feather tickled Sun Knight’s nose.
“Achoo!” said Sun Knight.
Then he laughed. “Ha-ha-ha! Oh! That feather is very funny.”
His gold helmet glowed warm and bright. “You are right, Luis. Calm is nice. But colors are nice too. And friends make a Kingdom happy.”
Sun Knight opened his shiny hands.
Whoosh!
Red flew back to the flags. Purple danced onto the flowers. Blue filled the pond. Green hugged the trees. The rainbow stretched over the castle again, bigger than before.
The people of the Kingdom clapped for Luis and Teddy Bear.
Sun Knight gave Luis a special prize: a small treasure box with a rainbow star on top. Inside were three bright buttons, a tiny gold crown, and a new yellow scarf for Teddy Bear.
“For the brave Dinosaur and his helpful friend,” said Sun Knight.
Teddy wore the scarf. “It is soft!”
Luis wore the tiny crown. “Roar-roar! We did it!”
That evening, Luis and Teddy sat beneath the colorful rainbow. They shared apple slices and watched the stars come out.
The Kingdom was bright. Teddy was smiling. Luis’s little crown sparkled.
And whenever someone felt worried, Luis would say, “We can try together.”
Then Teddy Bear would add, “And maybe bring a funny feather!”
