Princess is a girl. She is small, but brave. She lives in the Crystal Nebula.
The Crystal Nebula shines like tiny glass stars. The air is soft and sparkly. Princess likes to tip-toe on bright stones. Tap, tap.
One morning, Princess looks at the sky.
“Oh no,” she whispers.
The colors are gone. The pink is missing. The blue is sleepy. Everything looks pale.
A little Flower waves nearby. Flower is a funny friend. Flower can wiggle and giggle.
“Hello, Princess,” says Flower. “Where did the colors go?”
Princess holds Flower gently.
“We will find them,” Princess says. “Together.”
Another Princess comes floating by. She is a tiny star-princess, made of light. She is kind, but shy.
“I saw a Wizard,” the star-princess says. “He took colors and hid them.”
Princess the girl frowns.
“Wizard, please stop,” she says, even if she feels a little scared.
They walk through the Crystal Nebula. They pass a clear hill. They pass a humming cloud. They pass a bridge made of glittery dust.
Flower bounces.
“Boing! Boing!”
Princess laughs.
Then they hear a sound.
“Whoosh… shhh… whoosh…”
A dark swirl curls behind a crystal rock.
The Wizard appears. He has a tall hat and a long robe. His eyes blink like two tiny lamps.
“I kept the colors,” says the Wizard.
Princess holds her hands up.
“Please,” she says. “The Nebula needs them. Babies need them. Flowers need them.”
The Wizard huffs.
“I like them in my jar,” he says.
Princess thinks. She is clever.
She points to Flower.
“Flower can make you a gift,” Princess says.
Flower wiggles very fast.
“I can make a silly smell,” Flower says. “Like banana socks!”
The Wizard sniffs.
“Banana socks?” he asks.
Flower wiggles again.
Pffft!
A tiny puff of sweet, silly smell floats out.
The Wizard’s nose wrinkles.
He tries not to laugh.
But he laughs.
“Ha! Ha! Ha!”
While he laughs, the shy star-princess whispers,
“Look! His jar!”
On the ground is a glass jar. Inside are little ribbons of color. Pink ribbon. Blue ribbon. Gold ribbon.
Princess the girl walks slowly.
Step… step…
She talks softly.
“Wizard, you can keep one color,” she says. “Just one. Then you won’t feel sad.”
The Wizard stops laughing.
He looks surprised.
“One?” he asks.
Princess nods.
“Yes. One. And we get the rest.”
The Wizard thinks.
He is not mean now. Just lonely.
“Okay,” he says. “I will keep purple.”
Princess smiles.
“Thank you,” she says.
The Wizard opens the jar.
Whoooosh!
Colors fly out like happy birds.
Pink goes splash!
Blue goes swoop!
Gold goes twinkle!
The Crystal Nebula wakes up. Bright. Warm. Pretty.
Flower claps its petals.
“Yay!” says Flower.
The shy star-princess gives Princess a gift.
A small crystal crown, light as a feather.
“It is for you,” she says.
Princess puts it on.
It glows.
She feels brave and big inside.
The Wizard waves.
“I will make purple lights,” he says.
“Nice purple,” says Princess.
They all watch the nebula sparkle.
Princess hugs Flower.
Tap, tap, tap.
All the colors are back.
