Tobias and the Stolen Colors

Kids stories

In the Spirit Garden, little Tobias finds pale flowers and a grumpy Sorcerer who stole the colors. With a kind Guardian Spirit, Tobias uses gentle bravery to bring the colors back—and earns shiny color stones to keep.
Tobias and the Stolen Colors

Tobias is a little boy. He is small, but brave. He likes to help.

Today he walks into the Spirit Garden. The grass is soft. The air smells sweet. Tiny lights blink like sleepy stars.

“Hello?” Tobias calls.

A warm wind swirls. A Guardian Spirit appears. It looks like a gentle glow with kind eyes.

“I am here,” whispers the Guardian Spirit. “Do not worry.”

Tobias holds his hands together. “I’m not scared. Just a little.”

The Guardian Spirit hums. “Good. We can be a team.”

In the middle of the garden, the flowers look pale. Not bright. Not happy.

Tobias frowns. “Where are the colors?”

The Guardian Spirit points to a stone path. “A Sorcerer took them. He put the colors in three jars.”

“Let’s get them back,” says Tobias.

They walk to a pond with still water. A jar sits on a rock. It is filled with blue.

But a shadow swishes over it.

The Sorcerer peeks out from behind a tall fern. He wears a dark robe and a grumpy face.

“No colors for you,” he says.

Tobias stands tall. “Colors are for everyone.”

The Guardian Spirit whispers, “Use your brave voice. Use your kind voice too.”

Tobias tries. “Please, Sorcerer. The garden feels sad.”

The Sorcerer snorts. “Sad is quiet. I like quiet.”

Tobias looks at the pond. He gets an idea. He picks up a smooth pebble.

“Plip!” The pebble drops in.

Little rings go out. The water makes a soft sound. Not loud. Just gentle.

The Sorcerer tilts his head. “Hmm.”

The Guardian Spirit smiles. “Quiet can be kind,” it whispers.

The Sorcerer steps closer to listen. While he listens, Tobias tiptoes, very slow, to the rock.

He takes the blue jar. “Thank you,” he says, even if the Sorcerer did not give it.

They hurry on.

Next they find a tree with shiny leaves. A jar of green hangs from a branch.

The Sorcerer is there again. “Stop!”

Tobias looks up. The jar is too high.

The Guardian Spirit floats up and nudges the branch. It bends a little.

Tobias stretches. “I can do it!” He reaches. His fingers touch the jar.

The Sorcerer waves his hand. The branch springs up.

“Oh!” Tobias wobbles.

The Guardian Spirit wraps a warm breeze around him. Tobias lands on his feet.

“Again,” Tobias says. He is determined.

He pats the tree trunk. “Tree, please help.”

The leaves rustle. The branch lowers, slow like a sleepy arm. Tobias grabs the green jar.

The Sorcerer blinks. “The tree listened to you.”

Tobias nods. “I asked nicely.”

Last, they reach a gate made of vines. Behind it, a jar of red sits on a little pedestal.

The Sorcerer blocks the gate. “Mine,” he says.

Tobias looks at him. “Do you want the garden to be happy too?”

The Sorcerer hesitates. His eyes are tired, not mean.

“I… I don’t like being left out,” he mutters.

The Guardian Spirit speaks softly. “Come with us. You can help return the colors.”

The Sorcerer’s shoulders drop. “Help?”

Tobias smiles. “Yes. Hold my hand.”

The Sorcerer takes Tobias’s hand. It is cold at first, then warmer.

Together they open the vine gate. Tobias takes the red jar.

They go back to the pale flowers.

“One, two, three,” says Tobias.

They tip the jars. Blue, green, red spill like paint made of light.

Whoosh! The Spirit Garden wakes up. Flowers glow. Butterflies sparkle. The air looks bright.

The Sorcerer gasps. “It’s… pretty.”

Tobias laughs. “Yes!”

The Guardian Spirit claps like wind in leaves. “You did it, Tobias.”

A new thing appears near Tobias’s feet: a small pouch. Inside are color stones, smooth and shiny.

“For you,” says the Guardian Spirit. “A treasure to keep.”

Tobias holds a stone. It shines like a tiny rainbow.

The Sorcerer smiles a small smile. “Can I have one?”

Tobias gives him a yellow stone. “For sharing,” he says.

The Sorcerer nods. “I will try.”

Tobias waves at the happy garden. He feels brave and warm.

And the Spirit Garden shines all around them, bright again.
